Lakers’ Draft Pick Ater Majok at adidas EUROCAMP 2012!

Ater MajokOne of the more impressive athletes at the 2012 adidas EUROCAMP was Australia’s Ater Majok. Turns out he was drafted by the LA Lakers in the second round in 2011 with the 58th pick overrall.

Originally from South Sudan, he migrated to Sydney Australia through a refugee camp in Egypt; in a story remarkably similar to our very own Luol Deng. Eventually, he ended up at UConn, but for reasons that remain unclear left after two years (sitting out the first due to waiting on clearance from the NCAA). He has since bounced around different pro-teams, and if you believe Eurobasket.com is currently with Maccabi Tel Aviv, however, is not listed on the roster on their official website (feel free to shed light in the comments!).

Majok was playing for the Australian Institute of Sport, showing off his smooth mid range jumper, athleticism and crazy shot blocking ability.

Check out his highlights below:

He had a couple of 10 day contracts with Maccabi but was dumped before October…

Ahh ok, thanks very much for the info. He’s currently without a team then?
