North West, the Under-17 Regional Development Tournament WinnersNorth West made it back to back to back titles at the Under-17 Regional Development Tournament at Nottingham Wildcats Arena this weekend.

For the second straight year, the North West beat London in the final, this time winning 67-63 to take the title.

“I think we just about did enough over the weekend and I’m obviously proud of the players’ achievements,” said North West coach Neal Hopkins. “The Regional Development programme is a great opportunity for players to gain a fantastic basketball experience and I personally think the hard work by each regional coach and their staff during the course of the summer was reflected in the level of competition – the weekend was a good show piece for U17 men’s basketball with a lot of talent on show.”

Stats aren’t available from the final, but Earl Russell and Lewis Halpin were noted standouts for the North West whilst Ajou Deng was a strong performer for London.

West mids fail to deliver. Again. All thats wrong with regional setup. Just about tourney with a few training slots + no match practise. More about picking up players for a college course?
