Kestrel Guards Pre-Season Tourney Boasts Best Ever Line Up

Kestrel Guards U18 Basketball Tournament
The third annual Kestrel Guards Premier Under-18 Tournament takes place this weekend (15th & 16th September), promising to be their strongest year yet having expanded to eight teams.

“This is our 3rd year running the tournament and it promises to be the best yet,” explained tournament organiser Matt Guymon. “I have tried to include all the top programmes in England, to give coaches a chance to test themselves against the best. People coming down to watch will get see a number of international players and coaches go head to head in what will be an action packed weekend.”

Taking place at Quilley School & Barton Peveril College, the teams taking part are defending champions Barking Abbey, 2010 winners Manchester Magic, along with Bristol Academy Flyers, Surrey Heat, Reading Rockets, Medway Park Crusaders, Lewisham Thunder, and the host team Solent Kestrels.The teams will be divided into 2 pools which will be played on the Saturday (across two courts), with playoffs on Sunday.

Saturday Schedule

12:00pm: Manchester v Solent/Reading v Medway Park
1:15pm: Manchester v Bristol/Medway Park v Barking
2:30pm: Surrey v Solent/Lewisham v Reading
3:45pm: Surrey v Manchester/Lewisham v Barking
5:00pm Bristol v Solent/Barking v Reading
6:15pm Bristol v Surrey/Lewisham v Medway Park

On Sunday, the playoff games are scheduled to start at 10am.

I believe it’s a “select” team created for this tournament.

Not sure yet, there wasn’t a whole lot of good stuff. Might be able to through a little something together but we’ll see.
