Great Britain Women finished their Olympic tournament without a win after falling 78-66 to Brazil on Sunday night at the Olympic Basketball Arena.
GB, who were awarded a spot at the games as the host nation, finish with an 0-5 Olympics record, and will now look to qualify in their own right for the 2016 Olympic games. Despite going winless, the team won over a lot of fans with their heart and commitment, in a number of tough losses.
Following their exit, Natalie Stafford took to Twitter to show her appreciation to the fans:
I just want to once again thank our wonderful fans. You have supported us because you could see the undying effort we displayed in each game

Jo Leedham added:

Leedham finished as the team’s leading scorer with a 16.2 average through 5 games.

Thought Team GB did themselves proud.
True they did not win any games, but to lose to France in the manner they did, showed how far the team have progressed.
The players never gave up and the effort and determination the players gave was a tremendous credit to themselves.
All their games were both entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
Dare I say, more so than the mens team?
I agree with that. Thw Women’s team did themelves proud.
Doing prode is just so british this is not a bunch of school kids in year 7 or 8 who just lost a schools finial by 2 points they are paid pro’s who only played in this event becuase it was held in there back yard.
I mean talk about a freebe they just proved that there just not good enough even the last game they could not even win. I know i”ll get people telling me how unfair my comment is but am sorry 0 in 5 is not even close to being ok its poor but i guess the british way is to always support the losers thats why we wont even make it in womens basketball.
I just feel for the people like myself who paid for tickets to go see these women play and lose and not to say they played bad but they were out classed and out gunned
Our womens basketball has taken a right bashing like Nat Staffords left eye were do we go from here any 1 got any real ideas?
Idea number 1. Make sure d***heads like you cannot post on forums like this. Moderate.
Give me your real name and address and I will make sure you get your money back.
Why not also give us a list of all the names you post under so we know which ones to avoid.
These women have worked incredibly hard to get where they are. Don’t expect you to recognise that as you clearly know nothing about the game. Their skill level is close to pretty much every other team in the competition but as in most professional sports the margins for victory are very small.
France just beat Czech Republic by a bigger margin than GB. Does that (in your strange mind) make Czechs a bunch of kids? British basketball does not need your money or support, find something else to fill your vacant life.
Prode? Finial? Pro’s? Becuase? Freebe? Kids in year 7 or 8 could do better.
Andy9 GB women lost every single game did not win 1 and am well within my rights to say how i feel i never once disrespected them all i have said is the truth but i guess guys like you cant handle the truth if your feel so bad about it why don’t we meet up some time in a cafe of your choice and discuss it over a cup of coffee it will be on me Andy9.
If your from London let me know i mean am from west London Queens park station is 5 mins walk from my home hit me back up on hoopsfix and we can arrange it. I see your feeling got hurt by my comments am sorry about that mate but its the truth just take a good look at it and if your a basketball player we can even go down to my local court and shoot some hoops after.
