During any major basketball tournament such as the Olympics, you’re guaranteed to have a few bloopers, and perhaps this will go down as the greatest one of London 2012. During the end of Argentina’s quarter-final victory over Brazil, BBC basketball commentator Mike Carlson gets hit by a ball – which, much to his anger, he thinks has been thrown by someone in the press tribunes
He soon realises it was from the court, where the Argentinians were celebrating, and swiftly apologises. Gold.

couldn’t have happened to a more talented commentator. As ‘Fan’ says above, that is probably the first time he recognised something as being what it actually was, and even then he couldn’t tell where it came from.

As a commentator he is very poor, both for basketball and for American football.
He does write obituries for an English newspaper !!!
He also was unable to recognise Queen Sofia, queen of Spain who was spectating at the Russia/ Spain semifinal until it was mentioned to him by a BBC staff member.
Its soooooooo poor for basketball that the BBC cannot fire this guy i mean he gets the players name wrong so many times its no longer a mistake. Mike is an American who cannot tell the difference from Carmelo and Chandler or from Lebron to Kobe those are the top NBA stars for crying out load. Every time he gets it wrong i think hold up that’s team USA were your from. Plus there names are on the back of there jerseys and on there warm up tops too PLUS on the sheet of paper in front of him.
Mike Carlson is the biggest waste of space and the BBC are doing this on purpose because if this was any other sport in the Olympics like swimming hockey or even volleyball that person would be out the door with out there feet touching the ground
The BBC do not give a flying scotsman about basketball. I wont mind if the final was done by Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer
