England Under-18s Cut to 16

Following the 2012 Future Stars tournament where they finished in fourth place with a 2-2 record, the England Under-18s have been cut to 16 players.

Head coach Steve Bucknall commented:

“We were pleased to finish up 2-2 at the Future Stars tournament considering the stage we are in preparation and the excellent competition which it provided us.

“Playing four international games helped us to gauge were we are as a team and individuals and will help us to improve in the future!

The evaluation period is nearly complete and we can now reduce the squad numbers to 16 vying for a place on the plane for the Euros.”

The 16-man squad sees one new addition, London United-Harefield Academy’s Elvisi Dusha who we can only assume caught Bucknall’s eye at the Future Stars tournament, having not been listed on any previous squads.

England Under-18s 16 Man Squad

Elvisi Dusha, London United
Rowell Graham, Lewisham Thunder
Joshua Guddemi, Derby Trailblazers
Tyrell Isaacs, Westminster Warriors
Ben Mead, Ipswich
Luke Nelson, Reading Rockets
Kingsley Okoroh, Findlay Prep
Tamas Okros, Manchester
Dwayne Orija, Barking Abbey
Legend Robertin, Barking Abbey
Sam Round, Northants
David Sainsbury-Garcia, Asefa Estudiantes, Spain
Elliott Sentance, Leicester Warriors
Morayo Soluade, Unicaja Malaga, Spain
Lucas Stivrins, USA
Connor Stuart, Bucks Hornets

Coach will still look at players , and can still swap them around. Elvisi came in to the game at a recent tournament .

If I remember correctly there was some guard from UK playing for Real Madrid U18 (has forgotten his name). Why he is not in the squad?
Also there were couple lads playing in France and US. Where are they?

Greg Krippa? Wasn’t selected.

Not sure about the France and US kids – far too vague!

Googled it. He played for Russia so he can’t play for England

Others not named ont he list heading off to Belgium – why are they not declared ?

Because the coach will still be looking at players ,and he can still add and take away players if he wants.

In that case England Basketball should not state squad cut to 16 – it is the usual farce

I may be wrong ! i just think that a coach from any team can swap and change when ever he needs too. As far as the usual farce like you say its usual so why moan about it . At the end of the day what will these comments do to change things.. Nothing… If i may ask do you play ?

it is true, its all a farce. anybody who knows anything about basketball knows that the england set-up is a joke. as you said, ‘the usual farce’ … why dont people do something about and get some half decent coaches in for once??
this is why england is so far behind in the basketball world….
and finally, coaches need to realise there is more to basketball than speed and athleticism
