There will be two Brits playing NBA summer league in Las Vegas this week as both Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Ryan Richards have been confirmed on respective team rosters.

Richards will be suiting up for San Antonio Spurs, the team that drafted him in the second round two years ago, whilst Matthew Bryan-Amaning will be suiting up for New Orleans Hornets, as they both fight for a roster spot next season.

Talking to Hoopsfix, MBA says he isn’t taking the opportunity for granted and knows he still has a long way to go:

“I’m not getting excited by any of this, summer league is a great opportunity, obviously,” he explained. “But also you have to take into account how many other guys are there.

“I have my eye on where I want to be but I am not taking any drills off to get there. It feels like I am so close but in actual fact there is still a lot of steps to go. I am just trying to work hard play my game and keep impressing the staff because at this level, work ethic is a big contribution to who they take.”

MBA had a successful rookie year in Turkey with Hacettepe after going undrafted last year, having not had a chance to play summer league due to the NBA lockout.

Richards, who turned down playing for GB this summer, has been in Chicago working out after finishing last season with Georgian side Sukhomi. He was drafted by San Antonio in the second round of the 2010 NBA draft.

Hoopsfix wants to wish both of them the best of luck! Represent!
