Whilst the English Universities side were dominating the competition at the BUCS Home Nations, Darryl Shazier, who was representing Northern Ireland, was quietly going about his business. In the opening day game he dropped 32, he then followed that up with 24 on Wednesday and had cemented himself as one of the standouts of the tournament.
However, no-one had envisaged him doing what he did against Wales on the final day. The former Bucknell guard had 17 in the first quarter, 39 at halftime (!) before finishing the game with a ridiculous 62 points!
Overall, the left-handed Shazier went 24/39 from the field (20/25 inside the arc, 4/14 outside it), 10/11 at the line and added 10 steals along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block! He finished the tournament with a cool 39.3 per game scoring average…check the video!

40 field goal attempts…..2 assists…..
Dude could’ve quite easily had 8/9 assists if his teammates would’ve knocked em down. Goin’ through the tape there were so many kick-outs to guys who were wide open who missed…
It would be a mistake to assume that Darryl is not a playmaker. When he was at Bucknell, he had one of the best (and at times THE best) assist/turnover ratios in the nation. http://www.boston.com/sports/colleges/mens_basketball/articles/2011/03/14/shazier_is_bucknells_steady_leader_at_point/
