Former England Under-16 Dale Francis (1994 born) has committed to NCAA Division 1 school Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
The 6’9″ forward, who has been playing at the Canarias Basketball Academy for the past 5 years, has said he is extremely pleased to be heading to the US to begin his college career:
“I’m really happy to be part of coach Wilson’s Islanders, it has not only a great basketball program, but it’s also combined with great academics as well.”
“I would personally like to thank coach Rob (Orellana) for accepting me in his program 5 years ago and working with me to be where I am today. I would also like to thank all coaches, staff and all my team mates during my time here, it was an experience that I will cherish and never forget.”
At the 2010 Division B European Championships, Francis averaged 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game with the England U16s, whilst last year was one of the final cuts of the England Under-18 squad. He was also selected to attend the prestigious Basketball Without Borders camp last year.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi compete in the Southland Conference.
Hoopsfix wants to wish Dale all the best with his college career!
