So, LeBron James is in London and today paid a visit down to the London School of Basketball at Crystal Palace. Last year, when Kobe Bryant was here doing the same thing, he was asked the question who would win in a 1 on 1 between him and LeBron; he said himself, easily.
Today, I posed the same question to LeBron…even though he wasnt quite as emphatic as Kobe, he did say he would take himself.
Check it.
Big thanks to the the London School of Basketball (find them on Facebook as well) and Nike Basketball for access!

What a friendly man he is.. :p
Haha yeah…didn’t go down well at all
It’s a bate question tho’… What do you really expect from the answer? What possible insight could it provide into LeBron?
It’s an obvious question to ask yeah, but a good question IMO; the way Kobe responded to it last year provided a LOT of insight into him…and I think LeBron’s response to it similarly says a lot about him.
It shows that Kobe is 7/8 years older than LeBron and perhaps has a better honed and more charismatic professional media personality, he’s been doing it since he was 18 – professionally.
LeBron is still young probably younger than you, and it is clear he hasn’t developed his media persona fully, what with ‘The Decision’ debacle, etc.
I really don’t see how this was a good question to either player, interms of offering insights into their ability to play the game or their lives as professional players.
Would you pose this question to the competitors at MM? What would you expect those answers to be like?
Well guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. If people didn’t want to know his answer, then they wouldn’t be watching it; 60,000 combined views online in 16 hours kinda disagrees with you as well.
Who would win a fight between Kobe’s dad and LeBron’s dad?
JC gets the point. Sam your youtube stats prove my point. It’s not about the game.
Your point was
“I really don’t see how this was a good question to either player, interms of offering insights into their ability to play the game or their lives as professional players.”
If it didn’t offer insight, people wouldn’t be clicking the post and watching the video.
Anyway, like I said, it’s quite obvious neither of us are gonna change our position on it, so may as well just agree to disagree. If you think it’s a bad question and don’t want to know the answer, then the simple answer is not to watch it!
If they played a four quarter 1v1 then i would imagine LeBron would just edge it for the first three but when it really matters, LeBron would freeze up and Kobe would demonstrate he superior greatness when it matters and take the W.
It’s just a petty thing to bicker about – thats what my point was about.
Who’s bickering? I think one of the great things about sports is that they provide endless hours of discussion for fans about every aspect; and one of the most discussed things in all sports, is who is the best. It’s a natural thing to discuss.
A video billed as Young Female Talks About Her Breast… Would get a lot of views. It doesn’t mean you get to see the breasts in a video.
It’s just a bit played out. I think what you do is good, and you manage to provide yourself with awesome opportunities. My hope is that you can make the most of it more often!
Good luck.
Fair enough if you think it’s played out. I’m happy with how much I got out of the opportunity, the site has once again had worldwide exposure with a video that’s gone viral; I think any of the other outlets that were there would have loved to get the exposure Hoopsfix has had over the past couple of days.
Plus I’ve learnt stuff for future opportunities…like I need a presenter!
Appreciate the support.
What do you mean you need a presenter? How would that work?
Also, just to clarify, I think it’s good that there is a bball website dedicated to the UK scene. It’s also good that you got good enough PR to get invited/tag along to all the major events. That’s a good position to be in and I just hope hoopsfix develops more so it doesn’t need hype-hype t’ing questions to get looks and rather offers something more unique and insightful.
I mean, it is not cool standing behind a camera, filming, whilst shooting questions at someone being interviewed! I want to get a presenter to present…do the interview etc etc.
Hoopsfix is in a difficult situation because it only covers the UK scene, and being 100% honest, there just isn’t that much interest, so when I get an opp with a LeBron or a Kobe, I gotta make the most of it!
LMAO rahhh… He’s slyly pissed!!
I think it was a great question for a number of reasons.
1. It’d already been asked to Kobe, so LeBron needed right of reply.
2. Who’s not interested in hearing what LeBron thinks about Kobe?
3. 1 on 1 is a key part of basketball in practice and in matches – yes it’s a team game, but can’t take individual contests out of it.
4. Obviously LeBron was uncomfy with the question, that in itself means it was right to ask (can’t ask PR friendly stuff all the time).
I know I’d have asked it, and probably asked if he’d beat D-Wade too!
Anon I think you are taking this the wrong way completely!! The fact is it’s a question for the fans and even the kids that watch these stars each week. The way he responded to it says a lot about his character… Not about how experienced with the media he is.
