GB U20s Finish 13th, Beat Iceland

GB U20s vs IcelandThe Great Britain Under-20s finished 13th at the 2011 Division B European Championships after beating Iceland 83-71 on Sunday.

GB finished the tournament with a 7-2 record, winning 7 consecutive games after losing their first two. In a similar situation to last year, the two early losses ultimately halted any hopes they had of advancing, despite finishing with one of the best records in the tournament.

“We started really well, and although we had a bit of a lull when complacency set in, we did the job we set out to do.

“We’ve done a good job in the tournament over all, and the standard has definitely risen year on year.”

Alex Marcotullio led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals, Devon Van Oostrum had 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists and John Bantock had 9 points and 4 rebounds.
