GB Senior Men’s Final Roster Confirmed

The final GB Senior Men’s roster has been confirmed today with a number of extra additions as the team prepares to come together for their 2011 Eurobasket campaign.

As previously reported on Hoopsfix, GB Under-20s Ryan Richards, Devon Van Oostrum and Alex Marcotullio have been added to the squad along with Gb Futures’ Andrew Lawrence and Devan Bailey. Kyle Johnson, the GB Futures’ leading scorer this year, rounds out the talent who have received invites after coming through the GB development pathways.

Performance Director Chris Spice is excited about the prospects coming through:

“These players have done very well in the programmes we have been running this year and they are being justly rewarded for their good performances in the last six to eight weeks.”

“This bodes well for the GB team’s future with such great young talent coming through, I’m confident this is an investment for the progress of basketball in Britain. It is also proof that our system is working well to be producing players of this calibre.”

Chris Ayer, who has just finished a stint with the Dakota Wizards in the NBA’s Development League, is the last new addition to the squad. The 6’11, 245lb big man, is expected to bring defense and rebounding to the team.

British Basketball’s High Performance Manager, Ron Wuotila, commented:

“Chris is a very good rebounder and after a strong season in the D-League we are excited to see him play in a GB context.”
