Devan Bailey will once again be in the Futures squad

British Basketball has today announced this year’s ‘Futures’ roster, a squad aimed to bridge the gap between youth and senior international competition made up of a collection of players that sit between the under-20 and senior team,

This year the team will be coached by senior men’s assistant coach Nick Nurse, who will be supported by assistant coach Paul James [head coach of England senior men’s team and BBL team Worcester Wolves] and team manager Guy Coles.

The roster is as follows:

GB Future Roster

Ben Allison (Davidson)
Devan Bailey (Central Connecticut State University)
Paul Guede (Portland State University)
Kyle Johnson (Long Island University)
Andrew Lawrence (College of Charleston)
Will Neighbour (University of Arkansas Little Rock)
Liam Potter (Leicester Riders)
Lester Prosper (SUNY College at Old Westbury)
Tyrone Treasure (Bristol Academy Flyers)
Shane Walker (Loyola University Maryland)

The team will assemble at Surrey Sports Park on the 18 July for three days of training, before heading to Nuremberg, Germany, where they will take on the German under-23 side in a series of three games on 22, 23 and 24 July.

The players will have the opportunity to prove themselves and potentially be selected in the senior squad for their EuroBasket 2011 campaign. Head of Performance for British Basketball, Warwick Cann commented:

“The GB Future’s is always an exciting time when we see who of our emerging youth players can step up to the senior level. Last year there were four players who went on to be included in senior squad.

“This year’s programme will be built around a three test series against Germany so the challenge and opportunity will be there for our players to make a statement for the future.”

Last year the team was made up of four players that went on to represent the GB Senior Men’s team; Ogo Adegboye, Justin Robinson, Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Ashley Hamilton (check out video of them as they competed in Lille, France)
