Beatsfix: Big K.R.I.T, Nardwuar & Ghostpoet

Another week, another dose of music to add to your rotation.  Hopefully everyone had a minute to check out last week’s stand out mixtape, The Weeknd – House of Balloons (let’s be honest, Pusha T’s Fear of God didn’t match the hype). This week there’s once again another free mixtape that must not be missed. Plus a few other highlights.

Big KRIT The Return of 4eva

Big K.R.I.T – The Return of 4Eva

Along with the aforementioned 2011 XXL freshmen, Southern representative Big K.R.I.T has a timely mixtape release to go along with his new found cover story success. With The Return of 4Eva the introspective southern MC slash producer follows his critically acclaimed debut mixtape K.R.I.T Wuz Here with a worthy successor solidifying K.R.I.T’s already impressive credentials.

For newcomers to Big K.R.I.T all you need to do is check out the all-out-banger from last year, Country Sh*t, and then listen to tracks 3 – 7 from The Return of 4Eva. That should provide you with the perfect intro to this undeniable talent.

Done that? Pretty awesome right?

Nardwar The Human Serviette vs. Various Rappers at SxSW

Anyone familiar with oddball interviewer Nardwar will be fully aware that his interviews are as hilarious as they are impressive. Nardwar’s shtick revolves around an insanely deep level of knowledge of his interviewee’s musical history, an impossibly impressive record/merch collection and an overly quirky and abrupt format that always incites hilarious reactions from all involved. Plus he dresses like some kind of swagged out children’s entertainer.

Well this past week saw Nardwar assaulting numerous rappers at the Texas music festival South by Southwest creating a few unmissable highlights.

Ghostpoet – Cash & Carry Me Home Acoustic
Ghostpoet – Cash & Carry Me Home Acoustic

I’ve had a few comments about a lack of UK stuff on Beatsfix. Well one UK artists who instantly impressed me a while back was Ghostpoet. I can’t remember how I came across his breakout single Cash & Carry Me Home but it instantly landed and got stuck on repeat. It’s been out for a while and has clearly got some life left in it since fellow UK spitter Kano jump on the remix earlier this month, and now this…

Check out Ghostpoet’s recent acoustic rendition of the lead single from his Brownswood released Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam album, which he performed live for Pinboard & Red Bull Studios.
