Spurs GM R.C Buford reportedly said in an interview during a Knicks Summer League game that Ryan Richards is to undergo shoulder surgery and will likely play overseas for “a couple of years”.

The news will be a blow for Richards who was adamant he did not want to go back to Europe, whilst the surgery could keep him out for a matter of months. He was unable to play in the NBA Summer League due to still being under contract in Europe.

Richards, from Kent was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs with the 49th pick in the 2010 draft.
