Deng Camp 2010 is cancelled
In what is a big blow to British basketball community, the Luol Deng Foundation today announced the cancellation of the Luol Deng Basketball Camp 2010. The Foundation has written an open letter to fans which reads as follows;
Dear Campers, Parents/Guardians and Basketball Community,
It is with great regret that we have been forced to cancel this year’s Luol Deng Basketball Camp, due to being unable to secure sponsorship, which we have been pursuing for a great length of time.
We fully acknowledge that this is a huge blow to many basketball players and coaches around the UK, and never so much to the LDBC Team and Luol Deng himself.
“The camp is set up for the kids; to give them the opportunity to experience an environment that is challenging and at the same time rewarding. The news of the camp not running this year is a massive disappointment, as many of you know how important it is to me. I have every confidence in my team that they will work non-stop to ensure the camp is back in 2011.”

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologise to all the campers and coaches who have purposely booked any holidays around the dates of the camp. Your loyalty means a lot and hopefully this continues.
The team has worked extremely hard over the past 5 years to create unique opportunities for as many young inspiring basketball players as possible. This will not stop, as The Luol Deng Foundation is now operating in the UK where more projects, events and camps will be occurring. I know this is hugely disheartening news but we are staying positive and truly hope to have your full support. Please be reassured that the team will do everything in its power to make sure that the Luol Deng Basketball Camp is back stronger than ever in 2011.
Important Note: LDBC guarantee that all refunds on deposits and full tuition fees will be resolved ASAP to the vast amount of campers that have already registered for this year’s camp.

Thats a damn shame, without trying to sound abit fruity, you would think Loul could of coughed it up, guys worth millions, surely this camp wouldnt of burnt his pockets. I know hes done ALOT for GB basketball, and doesnt have to do anything, but it is his camp after all…
It is a shame that with as much as Luol Deng does to help others, that comments like the one above filled with ignorance still exists ….. Luol Deng has single handidly funded all the previous 5 camps creating opportunities for many kids to experience a one-of a kind camp in the UK … this year Luol Deng has visited Africa and that funding will help many hungry kids …. check out his twitter page for confirmation (LuolDeng9) … so it’s not about hurting pockets with him … it’s about humanity
