The Newcastle Eagles secured a huge victory yesterday, beating the Sheffield Sharks 99-79 in a match-up of the two hottest teams in the BBL. The win sends the Eagles to the top of the league, ahead of the Sharks, and means that they have secured the head-to-head between the teams. Sharks do however, have a game in hand.
Eagles were led by Reggie Jackson’s 24, backed up with 23 Andrew Sullivan points who has been more than solid since his arrival (or return!). Former Eagle Tafari Toney led Sheffield with 22, whilst BBL leading scorer Mike Cook was held to just 14.
It was the thirteenth straight victory for Newcastle in all competitions, whilst breaking Sheffield’s 10 game league winning streak.
