London born Ashley Hamilton had his first career double double in Loyola Marymount’s 81-70 win over Santa Clara University on Sunday night.
Hailing from Rob Orellana’s Canarias Basketball Academy, the 6’7 210lbs freshman averaging 7.9ppg and 5rpg on the season finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. He finished 4-7 from the field, 7-11 at the charity stripe and added 2 assists and 1 block to complete the night.
Talking to Hoopsfix about the game, Hamilton said
I think the game went well. I’m starting to get more comfortable and was able to come away with a double double even though I missed some free throws.
He went on to talk about the season
Season’s ok, ups and downs, some real big wins some bad losses, we young so we gotta work on being consistent. We’ve faced a lot of adversity with injuries and stuff but we’ll be alright
Hamilton is already an integral part of the LMU team, already helping them to more wins than in their previous two seasons combined.
The Lions now stand at 10-9 (1-2 in West Coast Conference play).
Their next game is on Sunday 24th Jan vs Gonzaga Bulldogs.
